Our Core Programs

U.S. Surgical Care
Through special partnerships with hospitals and surgeons across Southern California, MKI brings children with complex surgical needs to the United States for treatment.

Host Families
When children come to Southern California for surgical care, they are often placed with loving host families. These families open their hearts and homes to children who are sick and away from home. Host families work with MKI social workers to tend to the child's every need, take them to and from their appointments and stay with them during their hospitalization.

Medical Missions
MKI also assembles teams of surgeons, nurses and technicians to travel to countries on a specialized mission where many children needing assistance are treated simultaneously.

International Surgeries
When surgery in the United States or on a MKI medical mission is just not possible, MKI arranges for children to receive their surgeries during visits from other mission teams. In a partnership arrangement with the International Childrens Heart Foundation and Rotary Gift of Life International, we can help fund cardiac surgeries for children closer to their homes.
